At Purple Watch, we believe shared viewing should be private and intimate. Our extension is built with a privacy-first, zero-tracking architecture. We do not sell your data, track your browsing history, or log your personal conversations.
2. Information We Collect (And What We Don't)
What We Do NOT Collect:
- We do not record, intercept, or store your camera video feeds or microphone audio.
- We do not store your chat messages or screen-sharing video streams on any database.
- We do not collect names, passwords, credit cards, or email signups (no account creation required).
- We do not track which websites you visit or build advertising profiles.
Transient Technical Data Only:
- Temporary Room Codes & Session Tokens: Used in memory strictly to route real-time video timestamps between you and your partner. These tokens expire automatically when you leave the room.
- Local Extension Storage: Your chosen nickname, avatar choice, and status are stored locally inside your own browser (
chrome.storage.local) and are never sent to external servers.
3. Peer-to-Peer (WebRTC) Communications
Video calls, voice audio, and screen sharing are transmitted directly between you and your partner using end-to-end encrypted WebRTC peer-to-peer protocols. Our signaling server acts only as an initial handshake coordinator to link the two browsers; media streams never pass through or get saved on intermediate servers.
4. Browser Permissions Explained
Purple Watch requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:
- Active Tab: Used solely to detect HTML5 video players on supported video websites and synchronize playback actions (play, pause, seek).
- Camera & Microphone: Accessed exclusively when you click "Start call" to initiate live video chat with your connected partner.
- Side Panel: Used to display the Purple Watch control center inside Chrome's native sidepanel drawer.
5. Third-Party Websites & Links
When using Purple Watch on third-party video platforms (such as YouTube), their respective privacy policies and terms apply to your use of their streaming service. Purple Watch does not control or harvest data from third-party players.

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect software improvements. Any updates will be posted directly to this page with an updated revision date.
